Bland County is a recreational paradise. The beautiful mountains, the clear, sparkling streams, clean air, and temperate climate provide ample opportunities for the most avid sportsman and outdoorsmen. There are also many venues for the moderate recreationalist and the more contemplative observers of nature. Hunting and fishing are popular pursuits and many challenging courses beckon the golfer. The Appalachian Trail traverses the breadth of the county and there are many camp grounds in the area. The Jefferson National Forest covers much of the land and there are many spectacular vistas of mountain scenery for the visitor.
