| The Church in April 24th. Hires Young Preacher The church that meets in the new building at Irapuato in the “April 24 the. Colonial” continues to grow. Their attendance has grown from 25 to 50 each Sunday. They recently hired a young married preacher with a couple of children. The church is paying him $200.00 each month. Brother Juan Avian is at the present time preaching each Sunday afternoon, besides preaching in Celaya each Sunday morning. Hermilo fills in when Juan can not make it. The church is in the process of registering their building with the government insuring that the congregation will have control of the property. It had been the personal property of Higinio. Jerry Beighly and I were honored with a delicious dinner when we visited with them in January. JUAN IS TO HAVE MORE SURGERY ON HIS EYE. AS YOU KNOW JUAN HAD EXTENSIVE SURGERY ON HIS EYES SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. IT HELPED HIM TEMPERARILY WITH SOME EYE SIGHT. BUT THEY RAPIDLY DETERIATED. AS OF NOW HE IS COMPLETELY BLIND IN HIS RIGHT EYE WITH NO HOPE OF RECOVERY. HOWEVER A SPECIALIST IN MONTERREY HAS ASSURED HIM THAT HE CAN GIVE HIM BACK PART OF HIS VISION IN THE LEFT EYE. HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WALK AND PERFORM MOST OF HIS DAILY DUTIES WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. PLEASE BE MUCH IN PRAYER FOR HIM AND THIS NEW SURGERY. JUAN HAS A VERY GOOD MEMORY WHICH HAS ENABLE HIM TO CONTINUE TO PREACH WITH THE AID OF HIS WIFE MAGDA. HE CONTINUES TO PREACH AND TEACH IN IRAPUTO AND CELAY. HE PREACHES EACH SUNDAY TO AN AVERAGE OF 125 PEOPLE. GOD IS USING HIM IN SPITE OF HIS BLINDNESS. MARIO AND SARAI TO WED APRIL 13TH 2002. MARIO IS OUR YOUNGEST PREACHER AND IS MINISTERING TO TWO SMALL CONGREGATIONS IN THE RANCHOS NEAR IRAPUATO. SARAI HAS STUDIED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS IN THE BIBLE INSTITUTE IN SAN LUIS POTOSI. PRAY THAT GOD MAY USE THIS COUPLE TO HIS HONOR AND GLORY. HERMILO Y MARTHA TO BE GRANDPARENTS. A FEW MONTHS AGO ABDIEL THE OLDEST SON OF HERMILO WAS MARRIED. HERMILO AND HIS WIFE MARTHA WERE ANXIOUS FOR GRANDCHILDREN BUT WERE TOLD BY THEIR SON NOT TO EXPECT LITTLE ONES FOR SEVERAL YEARS. YOU SEE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO RAISE THE LITTLE FELLOWS. LATER WELL MAYBE. YOU GUESSED IT - ONE ON THE WAY, GRANDCHILD THAT IS. BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND MEN GANG AFT AGLEE. NEEDLESS TO SAY GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ARE PLEASED WITH THE COURSE OF EVENTS. WORKGROUP PUTS ON PART OF THE ROOF IN URIREO The men from the states arrived this last of January to work on the church building in Urireo. After four long days and approximately 5 hours on Friday one third of the roof was poured. The men worked hard to get the concrete poured before leaving for home. They took up a special offering themselves and some sent money after getting back home, to finish another third of the roof. The church still lacks the middle section of the roof. Pray that a way will be made soon to finish the final section of the roof. The Bliffen Brothers Held a Three Night Meeting in Urireo. Jerry, Jim, and John blessed each night with a message from God’s word. John is supported by the church in Wilmington, Ohio Heworks in missions in Florida and Cuba. He speaks fluent Spanish and served as the interpreter for his two brothers. Six were baptized into Christ. Thank you Kevin Ellis, Curtis Couch, Jack Powell, Harold Pargeon, David Stewart, Michael Davidson, Steve Treap, Jerry, John and , Jim Bliffen, and Jerry Beighly. May the good Lord bless each of you for your efforts in Urireo. A special thanks go to Jerry Beighly who was with me for the two weeks we spent visiting all our preachers. This makes two years that he as accompanied me on my yearly tour of the central part of Mexico. San Felippi Located at the base of a tall mountain is the villiage of San Felippi. It is here that our preacher Antonio was born and has spent his life. From a neighboring tribe of Indians he married his wife Martha. Through the radio broadcast “Dulces Momentos” they sent for a correspondence course which taught them the Gospel. Bro. Hermilo Gasca visited the villiage and converted several into Christ in spite of the persecusion that they suffered The brethren built a small concrete building high on the mountain where 40 - 55 people meet Sunday morning and evening to worship the Lord.
