Crime Analysis / Criminal Intelligence
In 2003, the Crime Analyst position was combined with the Records Supervisor position to form the Information/Records position. In addition to supervising the Records Division, this position compiles, formats, and summarizes a variety of statistical information from police incident reports, maintains the security system procedures for public safety software, and coordinates with the Intelligence and Support Aide to extract specific information from the database for report preparation.
The Intelligence and Support Aide performs a variety of technical and support activities to assist police officers in regards to law enforcement intelligence analysis and information sharing functions, criminal case research, and crime trends. In 2006, the Intelligence and Support Aide reviewed 1,186 pawn tickets and registered 63 sex offenders, of which 54 are active, 8 have moved and 1 is deceased. Eight sex offenders were prosecuted in 2006 for failure to register.
