Traffic Enforcement Unit
The Traffic Enforcement Unit, along with patrol personnel, investigated 3,329 collisions involving 887 injury related collisions and 7 fatalities, and issued 12,603 traffic citations and 5,461 warning citations. The Traffic Unit is responsible for the investigation of all fatal and serious injury collisions that occur inside the City of Kingsport. In 2007, there were 7 fatal collisions resulting in 7 fatalities, 1 less than 2006. The number of injuries decreased by 1.3%. The total number of collisions increased by 3%. Total crashes increased by 100 for 2007 and continues to be one of the lowest years in the past ten-year period when compared to the increasing total number of road miles.
