The Housing & Development division is seeking a qualified Housing & Development Coordinator to perform professional work planning, administering, and supervising the City of Danville’s neighborhood development/rehabilitation program and loan operation utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds in accordance with federal regulations. Work is performed under the supervision of the Housing & Development Director. Prepares necessary paperwork for utilizing loan proceeds to ensure compliance with legal and federal requirements; Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned Housing & Development staff (two Cost Estimator/Inspectors) to ensure that rehabilitation estimates and on-site construction work is accurate and complete; Administers all aspects of loan programs including initial review, processing, closeout, etc.; Ability to compile/maintain housing information according to state and federal requirements; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to organize and complete assignments with minimal supervision; Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations; Knowledge of CDBG and HOME program regulations, planning techniques and various software programs required; Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor degree in Urban Planning & Affairs, Community Development or related field and considerable experience and knowledge of residential construction and construction field experience; Ability to obtain state certification as lead paint supervisor and risk assessor; Valid drivers license required. Starting Salary Range:$34,636 – $39,000/Annual. WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

The Community Development Department is seeking a qualified professional to manage the Division of Housing and Development. The Director and staff of the Division are responsible for administering, planning, directing, and coordinating the Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) Entitlement Program and other federal and state grants or programs for community, neighborhood, economic development and downtown revitalization. The position: Develops various plans and strategies and evaluates alternatives; Formulates recommendations towards developing effective community development programs; Monitors implementation of projects to ensure timely and effective completion; Develops, presents and maintains a variety of plans, proposals, resolutions and related materials to various organizations; Comprehensive knowledge of principles of grants administration and of CDBG and HUD programs; Responsible for ensuring compliance with all HUD program requirements and regulations as applicable; Ability to effectively communicate both in speaking and writing; Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations; Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in urban planning, urban affairs, community development or related field with experience and knowledge of CDBG, other program regulations and general grants management; Starting salary range: $43,354 - $50,000/ Annual. Position will remain open until filled.
