Robert B. Allen Toll Collection Receipt Records
The following excerpts were taken from a receipt book maintained by Robert B. Allen from 1854 through 1870 for the collection of tolls at the bridge near the Allen home place. Allen also later used the same book for the recording of personal financial records into the 1880s. The receipt book is in the possession of the Allen-Bonham-Killinger Archivist.

Allen's toll collector's receipt book give month by month details of income from the toll bridge, Allen's salary, and monies paid for the maintenance of the toll bridge road. These two pages show an accounting of receipts from 1854-55, the earliest records that are included in the book. |
